The Sony Ericsson Xperia ray on 3 is what Sony Ericsson fans have been waiting for. Whilst packing in loads of high-end features, this younger brother of the Xperia Arc is smaller, lighter, and great value to boot.

Whilst the Arc's 4.3" display might be unmanageably large for some, the Xperia ray's 3.3" capacitive touchscreen retains the Bravia display engine to deliver that excellent display quality on something that's easier to use for those of us without giant hands. At only 100g, the Xperia ray is very lightweight and portable, making it easier to use on the move.

Also packed into the smaller casing is a top-end 8MP camera with autofocus, an LED flash and features including image stabilisation and face detection. A smaller secondary camera on the front also means that you can use the Xperia ray for video calls.

Running the show is the latest Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system powered by a speedy 1GHz Snapdragon chipset. The many improvements in Android 2.3 mean that you'll be able to enjoy a slick and speedy experience, with all the customisation and flexibilty you want. Of course, you may not want to tinker very much, as Sony Ericsson's Timescape UI makes keeping track of conversations by text or social media incredibly simple, and handles music and video exceptionally well.

For someone who's after the power of the Xperia range without the premium pricetag or a large and heavy handset, the Xperia ray from Three is a fantastic choice which is already attracting a lot of interest.
